Photo1: I tried to use Rule of Thirds by taking pictures of nine tables and spacing them out each in squares. My original idea was to use the background blue lines as Leading Lines, but it wasn’t balanced correctly. I also balanced everything in photo correctly and did group together the tables. Composition was defintley used in this photo.

Photo2: I used Rule of Thirds by having the middle of the photo the painted persons face. I didn’t use Composition very well and it’s evident in the photo. I would consider this photo as being abstract. Next time I take a photo of a painting it’ll be bigger and have alot more depth.

Was it easy to take portraits? Why or Why not.

No, It was hard to get my subject to do exactly what I intended. In the future if I take portraits I will change my background. I don’t think I’ll be taking portraits any time soon though.

2. What makes a ‘good” portrait? Give examples.

I believe a good portrait has a solid background and the subject has beauty. Too take a good portrait that looks nice the subject must be pretty. You also have to use the pyramid style and think of different emotions you want the portrait to express.

3. Were you able to enhance your photos in Photoshop? What tools worked best? Give examples-

Not really, the only tool I used was saturate or color/balance. Both tools altered colors the portraits emotion. I think if I had a better understanding of Photoshop I would have been able to enhance the portrait even more.

4. How did the weather affect your shots? Is it better to shoot photos inon days we have direct sunlight or cloudy days? Why?

The weather didn’t really change my shot. The weather changed my mood and all I wanted to do was go inside. Cloudy days that are cold are not fun to shoot in and I imagine Sunny Days would be better.

5. Why do we take portraits as a society? Examples?

Portraits are extensions of us. The better the portrait the easier it is to understand what kind of person you are. Society is constantly viewing one another. I don’t know how to answer this question correctly without changing my views so I’ll leave you to decide if I get full credit.

Mona Lisa Assignment

Everything in this photo has something to do with photography. The rule of thirds applies and has the subject in a controlled state. If we were ever to take a self portait photo I would definitley look for similarities to apply from the Mona Lisa. I would get a controlled background that isn’t agressive to stir the viewer from the main subject. I would have them sitting on a stool with the arms leaning on something with there body faced away. The person having there portrait taken must be relaxed and calm. I would focus on a dark background to give the subject a brighter outline. Pyramidel composition would be a big help to make my shot look professional.
